Bodicote

Located approximately two miles south of Banbury, Bodicote is a historic and highly popular village that perfectly bridges the gap between rural countryside charm and town convenience. With its centre designated as a conservation area in 1988, the village retains much of its ancient character, marked by beautiful stone houses, historic walls, and the striking 12th-century Church of St John the Baptist.

Explore a range of property styles from beautiful period cottages clustered around the High Street to spacious, modern family homes on the leafy outskirts. Bodicote is surrounded on two sides by open fields and footpaths, providing a quintessential English rural scene just minutes from major transport networks.

Local Amenities: The village is excellently equipped with a Londis shop and post office, a hairdresser, a local picture framer, and the popular Cotefields Nursery with its own busy coffee shop.

Transport Links: Exceptionally convenient for commuters. Situated just off the A4260, it offers a quick drive or regular bus service into Banbury for mainline trains to London Marylebone (under an hour) and rapid access to Junction 11 of the M40.

Schools: Bishop Loveday Church of England Primary School (Rated Good by Ofsted), alongside excellent pre-school options like Kingsfield Nursery and Saltway Day Nursery. It is also well-positioned for secondary schools in Banbury and the highly regarded Warriner School in Bloxham.

Local Community Activities: A deeply engaged community revolves around Bodicote Church House and the Village Hall, which host everything from Brownies and Parish Council meetings to craft and exercise groups. The Bodicote Archive Group also frequently holds fascinating local history exhibitions.

Pubs and Restaurants: The village boasts two traditional pubs located on the High Street: The Plough (a cosy, friendly pub featured in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide, known for Sunday roasts) and The Horse and Jockey.

Sport and Social Schemes: Bodicote is a major local hub for sports. It is home to both Banbury Cricket Club and Banbury Rugby Club, offering thriving youth and senior programmes. Opposite the primary school is King's Field, providing a village recreation area, play space, and outdoor exercise machines. For indoor fitness, the Bannatyne Health Club (complete with a pool and spa) is located right on the edge of the village.

The Cherwell Agent says: "My favourite thing about Bodicote is the sheer amount of sporting and leisure amenities on your doorstep. Being the home of both the Banbury Cricket and Rugby clubs means there is always an incredible community buzz on the weekends, and having a Bannatyne Health Club in the village is an absolute luxury for unwinding!"
